Longer treks for individuals or smaller private groups

This program is for those who would like to walk either single or in a smaller group from an alternative trekking route starting point  around Annapurna to cross the Thorung La  pass (5416 meters ) to Muktinath or via the Tilicho Lake to Jomson  back down to Tatopani and to Pokhara.

Most trekking guide books recommend the start of the approximately 21 days lasting Annapurna Round Trek via Dumre & Besisahar.

The alternative route  via our Middim Khola Resort is like this:

Day 1.) Take a bus from Pokhara Bus Park to Sisuwa Begnas Tal. (35 minutes drive) From  Begnas Tal (Lake) village bus park of Sisuwa outside of Pokhara one walks up to the ridge between Begnas Tal & Rupa Tal and down to Talbensi; (approx 1.5 hours)

then 1.5 hour upward to the pass of Sakre Banjang, (pronounced Zaoore Banyang).

Lunch is served there in a tiny local restaurant that stands rectangular at the spot's other end in view. (tasty and clean! Do not worry. They also have soft drinks and chocolate bars etc.)

Follow a foot path steep down at the left side of that restaurant into a green valley along a little creek all the way to Karaputar (approx. 2.5 hours) ;

from there via Laxmi Bazaar to Shyauli Bazaar (Middim Khola Resort) 1.5 hours. There is also a bus service all the way from Begnas Tal Sisuwa Bus park to Karaputar every 2 hours.

The Bus takes 1.5 hours from Sisuwa to reach Karaputar suspension bridge that stretches across the Madi Khola.

That makes the first day shorter and is a good idea when it is hot and dusty. From the other side of the bridge at the village entry of Ram Bazaar one walks up the left side of the Middim Khola to the north via Laxmi Bazaar to the  Middim Khola Resort within 1.5 hour.

Two ways are usable here: along the river or up through the forest. The forest path is steep and  takes a bit longer but you walk all the time between shady trees.

The lower areas of all treks are mostly energy consuming due to the strong heat of the sun between March and October. Recommended thus to walk through forest areas.See  OUR LOCATION for the rout map Pokahar to Shyauli Bazaar.

Day 2.) From Middim Khola Resort up to Nalma for lunch and then all te way down to Kudi.(north of Besisahar)

From there one just follows the beaten path of the Annapurna Round trek on day 3.

Benefit: You save yourself a long lasting bus journey from Pokhara to Besisahar and you are directly on your way.

You may also hire your guide from our experienced staff guides and take one or two porters for your rucksacks with you. That saves you a costly trekking  guide and  agency porters from Pokhara.
Our price is fixed for Nepalese Rupees 900,- per day  ( approximately US$ 12,50,- according to average exchange rate) This is for the Guide & 1 porter. Each additional porter is Rupees 300,- extra.

A team of Search & Rescue Dog handlers will perhaps come along as they have high altitude training walks regularly. They of course walk with you at their own expenses.

They carry tents and if you would like to spend a night at a camp outside any village with them, be welcome. That saves you the costs for a night in a lodge and for costlier restaurant food because the guys cook Dhal Bhat anyway every evening.  Your contribution for a meal may not be more than between 80,- and 180,- Rupees, depending on whether its vegetarian or with chicken meat from a local farmer. The guys butcher it themselves and prepare it in their traditional chicken curry style.

The SAR dog teams may come with you all the way across the Thorung La Pass down back to Pokhara Bus stop at Baglung or they quit half way for an other destination as per their own pre-fixed program assignment.

If you want to book a camping trek into the Rambrong Danda Jungle that stretches up to an altitude of 4000 meters; entirely to watch training of the SAR Dog Squads; fully organized with tents, kitchen staff and food etc.then do not be shy.

You may see flora and fauna that no where else shows up at other beaten trekking paths  in Nepal.

If you are interested in such an adventure you have to write a message to SARDOGS NEPAL NFP to negotiate with the principal of the Academy  Mr Nagin Thada for time schedules and price tag.

That income is entirely for the academy.  Extra donations to the Academy are welcome.
You can also donate your medical emergency drugs, band aid, bandages & stuff or some trekking clothes to the SAR Dog handlers as a gift at the end of such a trek.

This would be an unforgettable adventure and you may see hidden pilgrim shrines, waterfalls and native people that you never see anywhere else.
